Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Tigo TS4 optimizer and what does it do?

A Tigo TS4 is a module-level device that mounts behind each solar panel. The TS4-A-O (Optimization) variant uses impedance matching to keep an underperforming module — shaded, soiled, or degraded — from dragging down the rest of the string, without requiring optimization on healthy modules. Tigo's selective deployment design means you only need to install optimizers on the panels that have an issue, not on every panel. The TS4 family also includes variants for module-level monitoring (TS4-A-M) and rapid shutdown (TS4-A-S / TS4-A-2F), supported throughout the EU for installer safety.

What is module-level power electronics (MLPE)?

Module-level power electronics is the umbrella term for any electronics that operate at the individual solar panel level rather than at the string or inverter level. The two main MLPE categories are optimizers (DC-DC devices that work alongside a central inverter, like the Tigo TS4) and microinverters (DC-AC devices that replace the central inverter). The benefit: per-panel monitoring, better tolerance for shade and panel mismatch, and the ability to implement rapid shutdown for installer safety.

What's the difference between Tigo optimizers and microinverters?

Optimizers are DC-DC devices that work with a central string inverter — they optimize each panel's DC output before it reaches the inverter. Microinverters are DC-AC devices that fully replace the central inverter, converting each panel's output to AC at the panel itself. Optimizers are typically cheaper per panel and easier to retrofit; microinverters offer a simpler topology but cost more and lock you into a single ecosystem.

Is Tigo compatible with my existing inverter?

Yes. Tigo is inverter-agnostic by design — TS4 optimizers work with any string inverter on the market, including SMA, Fronius, Huawei, GoodWe, SolaX, Sungrow, and others. This is one of Tigo's biggest practical advantages: you're never locked into a specific inverter brand, and you can upgrade your inverter later without touching the optimizers.

Can I add Tigo to an existing solar system (retrofit)?

Yes — this is one of the most common Tigo use cases. The TS4 module clips onto each panel's existing DC connectors (no rewiring required) and works with the string inverter you already have. You get per-panel monitoring, shade-tolerance, and rapid shutdown without replacing your inverter or panels. Most retrofit installs take a few hours per array.

What is the Tigo GO Battery and what's it for?

The Tigo GO Battery is a hybrid AC-coupled energy storage system designed to pair with new or existing solar PV systems. It includes a hybrid inverter and modular battery capacity, so you can size storage to your household consumption and grow it later. The GO Battery is sold in scalable kWh blocks and integrates with Tigo's monitoring platform for combined PV + storage visibility.

Tigo vs SolarEdge — what's the practical difference?

Both make module-level electronics, but the architecture is fundamentally different. SolarEdge does per-module MPPT and requires its proprietary inverter — you commit to their full ecosystem and need an optimizer on every panel. Tigo uses impedance matching with selective deployment: you only install optimizers where needed (e.g., shaded panels), and any string inverter works (SMA, Fronius, Huawei, GoodWe, SolaX, Sungrow, etc.). Practical result: Tigo is usually cheaper per system, more retrofit-friendly, and avoids vendor lock-in. SolarEdge offers a tighter all-in-one ecosystem for new installs.

How fast is shipping, and which countries do you ship to?

We ship Tigo products to 8 European markets: Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Italy, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Croatia. Orders ship from our Slovenia warehouse via DPD with a typical delivery time of 2-4 business days. Personal pickup is available for Slovenian customers. Outside these 8 markets, please contact Tigo Energy directly through your regional Tigo distributor.

Is my warranty handled by you or by Tigo Energy directly?

Warranty on all Tigo products is provided by Tigo Energy, Inc. directly as the manufacturer — typically 25 years on TS4 optimizers and 10 years on GO Battery components. As an authorized Tigo reseller, Initra Energija assists with warranty claim submission, but the warranty contract itself is between you and Tigo Energy.

Do you offer technical support?

Yes — as an authorized Tigo reseller, Initra Energija provides pre-sale support (product selection, system sizing, compatibility checks) and post-sale support for ordering, shipping, and warranty claim coordination. For deep technical questions about installation, configuration, or troubleshooting of installed Tigo systems, we recommend contacting Tigo Energy's official support, which is the authoritative source.

Can I buy as a business with a VAT ID?

Yes. Provide your VAT ID at checkout and select the business buyer option. For valid EU business customers outside Slovenia, we issue 0% VAT (reverse charge) invoices under the EU intra-community supply rules. Slovenian B2B customers still pay 22% VAT (domestic sale, standard Slovenian rules). NET30 payment terms are available for approved B2B accounts.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept bank transfer via Wise for both consumers and businesses, and NET30 invoice terms for approved business customers. Payment instructions and account details are included in your order confirmation.

What's your return / withdrawal policy?

EU consumer law gives consumers a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of delivery, no reason required. Items must be returned in original condition and packaging. Free return shipping is provided. Business orders (B2B) may follow different return terms — see our Terms of Service for full B2B terms. Defective items follow the manufacturer warranty process described above.
